About STA
Psy•chol•o•gy noun: The science that deals with mental processes and behavior; the emotional and behavioral characteristics of an individual, a group, or an activity. It is also the study of the relationship between the mind and/or spirit and the functions of the body.

Given its definition, Psychology has many applications: clinical (solving life's problems); school (aiding the process of learning); industrial/organizational (maximizing performance) and counseling (addressing the philosophical questions about one's self and life direction).

Specialized Therapy Associates was designed to implement the many applications of psychology. The staff at STA is comprised of clinical and school psychologists. There are neuropsychologists and industrial/organizational psychologists in our network. Each psychologist has at least one area of specialization, while most have several. STA is a center for excellence by matching the provider of services with the client's particular needs. We maintain a multidisciplinary approach with a staff of clinical social workers, psychiatrists and other healthcare specialists.

STA has been in operation since 1994. Each year it has grown by adding staff with additional skills and specialties to meet the needs of its clientele. STA is a special place that believes you deserve special attention.

STA has a team of full time permanent staff located in our Hackensack, Ramsey, River Edge, Fort Lee, Short Hills and Spring Valley, NY offices. We are not a loosely associated group of therapists paid fee-for-service but a fully integrated team of doctors and therapists working together to attend to your concerns. Your intake coordinator, who can be reached at 201-488-6678 for all locations, will match you to the most appropriate provider for your concerns.

STA utilizes a multitude of approaches that include but are not limited to: cognitive and behavioral therapy, psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapy, play therapy, family and systems theory, crisis intervention, disease prevention and management, short-term and brief therapies, philosophical counseling, and creative arts therapy including drama therapy. Additional non-clinical techniques and applications include mediation, executive assessment and development, quality of life and life coaching.
